A drawing nobody can rig, including us
The winner is picked by a public random number that doesn't exist yet when we lock the entry list. Anyone can re-run the drawing below and get the same winner.
Find your entries
Your Entry ID is shown on your giveaway page after you enter (it starts with “g”). We never publish names, emails or phone numbers.
How the drawing works
- Entries close. We freeze the list of eligible entries and publish it as
entries.csv: one line per entrant with their Entry ID and number of entries. Mail-in entries are included at the maximum. - We lock it in. We publish the list's SHA-256 fingerprint and name a future drand round, then timestamp that record on the Bitcoin blockchain with OpenTimestamps. The round is at least 8 hours later, so the Bitcoin timestamp proves the list was locked before the randomness existed. Changing a single entry would change the fingerprint.
- The randomness arrives. drand is run by the League of Entropy (Cloudflare, Protocol Labs, universities and others) and publishes a new verifiable random number every 3 seconds. No one can predict a round before it's published.
- The math picks. seed = SHA-256(“randomness:fingerprint:0”), ticket = seed mod total entries. Entrants are laid end to end in list order, each covering as many tickets as they have entries, and the ticket's owner wins. The next seeds (:1, :2, :3) pick alternates in case the winner isn't eligible or doesn't respond.
- We confirm and announce. We verify the winner per the Official Rules, then post their first name, last initial and state here.
The verify button runs this page's code (draw-core.mjs) in your browser and fetches the randomness straight from drand, not from us.
